Més Que Paraules: Pla de Bages as Emotion in a Bottle

Located in the historic Jaumandreu estate at the heart of Pla de Bages, Més Que Paraules is a project by Proyectos Sin Etiquetas, launched in 2011 to create wines that transcend description. Born from a landscape of dry-stone terraces, ancient vines and near-lost traditions, the winery reflects a deeper commitment: crafting wines that express place, memory and identity, more than words ever could.

A Return to Indigenous Varieties

At the core of this identity lies the revival of native grapes. Mandó (also known as Garró) and Picapoll blanc, once pushed to the margins by modern viticulture, now stand as the winery’s foundational varieties. Mandó is among the few red grapes authorized in Pla de Bages, valued for its finesse, freshness and delicate structure. Picapoll, the emblematic white of the DO, brings aromatic vibrancy and a clear regional signature. Through these grapes, Més Que Paraules restores both legacy and uniqueness to the Catalan vineyard.

Rooted in the Landscape of Pla de Bages

With its compact territory and striking diversity, Pla de Bages is one of Spain’s most distinctive appellations. Surrounded by mountains and shaped by a continental-influenced climate, the region experiences hot days and cool nights, conditions that foster natural balance and preserve acidity. Soils range from marl and clay to calcareous profiles in higher-altitude zones like Alt Bages, demanding precision and respect from the grower. The estate works through integrated agriculture, low-intervention methods and vegan-friendly practices, always allowing the vineyard to lead.
