Bocca Roble captures the soul of Ribera del Duero, a region admired for producing wines that combine power and elegance. Crafted exclusively from Tempranillo grown in estate vineyards in Roa, it reflects the dedication of Bodegas Hercal to artisanal tradition and quality. The vines, aged between 15 and 35 years, grow in clay-limestone soils at around 800 meters of altitude. Thanks to warm days and cool nights, the grapes achieve an excellent balance of ripeness and acidity. With yields kept between 5,000 and 6,000 kilograms per hectare, the fruit develops both concentration and authenticity.

The strength of Tempranillo and a sustainable vision

Sustainability lies at the heart of the winery’s philosophy. Under the guidance of winemaker Ángel Manuel Casado, Bodegas Hercal integrates biodynamic principles with a careful, artisanal approach. Manual harvesting and strict grape selection show respect for the land. In addition, fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts, without accelerators or stabilizers. As a result, Bocca Roble preserves its fruit-driven profile, fresh and authentic.

Tempranillo, the queen of Ribera del Duero, reveals its depth in this wine. Because the wine undergoes no aggressive filtering or stabilization, the wild fruit and mineral tones remain intact. At the same time, nine months of aging in French and American oak barrels add spice, toast, and subtle structure. The outcome is a wine that bridges youthful vibrancy with refined complexity.

Each step in Bocca Roble’s creation is carried out with care, from grape selection to patient maturation. The winery stands beside a medieval wall from the 13th century, and beneath it lies a 19th-century underground cellar that provides perfect conditions for aging.
