MOFO Crianza

Authority in a Glass

MOFO Crianza, nicknamed The Master, does not need to boast. It is the kind of wine that makes its presence felt without raising its voice. Born in Toro, from a harsh and luminous land, it proves that maturity is not a loss of energy but a way of channeling intensity with precision.

Old Vines, Extreme Terroir

The grapes come from vines aged 60 to 80 years, planted in poor sandy soils with stones on the surface and clay in depth. This demanding terroir forces the vines to struggle, resulting in naturally low yields and exceptional concentration. Altitude and the sharp contrast between hot days and cool nights preserve freshness and tension, even in a grape as powerful as Tinta de Toro.

The Master’s Craft

If MOFO Roble, “The Wild Child,” represents youthful rebellion, The Master is the one who rules the ground. This is a wine that has learned to measure itself, to wait for the right moment and to unfold complexity gradually. Its 12 to 14 months of aging in French and American oak are not a disguise but a tool to refine its character, adding nuance without diminishing strength.

A Commanding Red

The result is a profound and layered red wine, with ripe fruit, sweet spice, minerality, polished tannins and a touch of toast. It imposes itself with presence yet seduces with balance. Ideal for red meats, game, slow-cooked dishes or simply for moments that demand pause and respect. The nickname The Master is no accident. It has been earned through character and stature. This is the wine that leads without needing to impose itself.

PRODUCTION METHOD
MOFO Crianza is made from 100% Tinta de Toro, harvested from vines between 60 and 80 years old. These old vineyards, located on poor sandy and stony soils, naturally limit yields and concentrate the essence of the grape. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures, with long maceration to extract color, tannins and intensity. Malolactic fermentation follows in tank before the wine begins its barrel aging.
AGING
Aged for 12 to 14 months in oak barrels, with 75% French oak and 25% American oak. The choice of oak enhances structure, depth and complexity without overpowering the fruit.
TASTING NOTE
MOFO Crianza shows a deep cherry-red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it combines ripe black fruit with hints of cocoa, tobacco leaf and warm spice. The palate is powerful yet refined, with muscular tannins, a creamy mid-palate and a lively backbone of acidity. Notes of blackberry, plum and licorice are interwoven with touches of vanilla and toast. The finish is long, persistent and commanding, confirming its place as the Master of the MOFO family.
