Karma de Drac Blanc

Karma de Drac Blanc is a rare orange wine from Montsant, crafted from Garnacha Blanca vines rooted in the clay soils of the Partida Fontanals vineyard at over 400 meters of altitude. The Mediterranean climate, moderated by continental breezes, allows the grapes to achieve both ripeness and freshness, giving the wine a singular balance.

Its production follows ancestral tradition: hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, skin contact for 20 days, natural malolactic fermentation, and no sulfites added. The skin maceration (brisat) is what transforms this white grape into an orange wine, adding depth, structure, and a distinctive golden hue with orange glints. This method, once common in Catalonia, has been revived here to create a wine that is both authentic and modern.

The name Karma de Drac, meaning “Dragon’s Karma,” reflects the spirit of transformation and energy that defines this wine. Just as the dragon in Mediterranean folklore embodies mystery and power, this orange wine channels that duality: raw and untamed, yet harmonious and balanced.

With only 1,500 bottles produced, it stands as a true rarity. Certified biodynamic and vegan, it speaks of respect for land, tradition, and minimal intervention. Karma de Drac Blanc Brisat Natural is not simply a wine but a statement: for those who seek authenticity, complexity, and the thrill of exploring the world of orange wines at their finest.

PRODUCTION METHOD
Harvested by hand from Garnacha Blanca vines planted in the 1970s and 1980s in Falset, Montsant. Whole clusters are crushed and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts at a low temperature of 18 °C for 20 days. After pressing, malolactic fermentation also takes place naturally over two weeks. The wine is then clarified by static decantation and three careful rackings. It undergoes a very gentle filtration (40 microns) before bottling, without any added sulfites. This skin-contact process gives it the distinctive profile of an orange wine, combining freshness with structure
AGING
Aged in stainless steel tanks during the winter and later refined in bottle, preserving balance and purity.
TASTING NOTE
Golden yellow with amber and orange reflections, the hallmark of an orange wine. The nose is intense and elegant, offering ripe stone fruits, Mediterranean herbs, and subtle floral touches. On the palate it is juicy and vibrant, with soft tannins from the skin contact that provide grip and texture. Fresh acidity brings balance, leading to a long, persistent finish that leaves both energy and elegance in the glass.
