Lo Pare
Lo Pare is a distinctive llicorella soil wine crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in slate-rich vineyards planted in the 1970s in Montsant. These old vines root deeply in fractured llicorella soils and draw character directly from the slate. As a result, the fruit develops natural concentration, structural depth, and a defined mineral identity shaped by both time and geology.
The vineyards yield small quantities of fruit each year. Because the slate limits vigor, the vines focus their energy on fewer clusters. Consequently, the grapes reach full phenolic ripeness while maintaining freshness and balance. In addition, deep root systems help the vines withstand warm vintages and retain natural acidity. The team harvests the fruit entirely by hand to ensure precise selection and optimal timing.
In the cellar, the winemaking team destems the grapes and ferments them in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. This approach preserves aromatic clarity and strengthens the structural backbone typical of Cabernet Sauvignon grown on slate. Moreover, they manage extraction with precision to achieve balance and refinement without masking vineyard expression.
As a llicorella soil wine, Lo Pare shows firm structure and clear mineral tension. The slate contributes subtle graphite nuances that frame the dark fruit core. At the same time, integrated acidity supports length and aging potential. The palate feels firm yet composed, and the finish remains persistent and focused.
By working exclusively with Cabernet Sauvignon from vines planted more than five decades ago, the winery shapes a wine rooted in authenticity. Therefore, Lo Pare captures the maturity of old vines and the defining character of Montsant’s slate landscape in a structured and deliberate expression of place.
