Somanilla Crianza 150cl
Somanilla Crianza 150cl
A Red Wine from Ribera del Duero
Somanilla Crianza marked the beginning of Bodegas Hercal’s story and remains one of its most emblematic wines. First released in 2008, it set the tone for the family’s style in Ribera del Duero. The grapes come from vineyards located between 800 and 1,000 meters of altitude, where calcareous soils blend with areas of sandy loam. This mix, together with the striking difference between hot days and cool nights, provides fruit with both intensity and freshness. Thanks to vines aged between 10 and 30 years, the harvest brings depth and character to every vintage.
The Craft of Tempranillo
The Casado family works with a philosophy of minimal intervention that respects the natural rhythms of the vineyard. Fermentation is spontaneous, guided by the native yeasts present on the grape skins, which ensures authenticity and a direct link to the terroir. At the same time, gentle pump-overs during vinification help to achieve a balanced extraction. Malolactic fermentation follows naturally on the lees, adding roundness and a velvety texture. Afterwards, the wine rests for 16 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, which lends structure, spice, and complexity without overshadowing the fruit.
Tradition, Place and Identity
Every bottle of Somanilla Crianza carries the spirit of Ribera del Duero and the heritage of the Casado family. The winery stands in Roa, beside a medieval wall from the 13th century, and its 19th-century underground cellar still provides ideal conditions for maturation. This connection between history and craftsmanship gives the wine a unique identity. Moreover, the name Somanilla highlights local tradition and underlines the winery’s commitment to authenticity. As a result, the wine is more than a Crianza: it is an invitation to discover Ribera del Duero through a lens of ripe fruit, minerality, and elegance.
