Més Que Paraules Blanc

Més Que Paraules Blanc is much more than a wine. It is a portrait of the Pla de Bages, a Catalan denomination that is regaining prominence with energy and vision. The blend is a rare meeting of tradition and innovation. Picapoll, the region’s emblematic white variety, provides structure, freshness and a distinct mineral edge. Mandó, normally used for reds, is crafted here as a blanc de noirs, lending finesse and a delicate aromatic twist. A final touch of Sauvignon Blanc adds tropical and citrus vibrancy.

The vineyards, planted in the late 1990s, lie in a landscape of rolling hills, Mediterranean vegetation and clay-limestone soils dotted with pebbles that reflect sunlight and store warmth. At around 400 meters altitude, the grapes benefit from a climate that balances ripening heat with cool night-time breezes, maintaining natural acidity even in warm, dry years. Low yields of 5,500 to 6,500 kg per hectare ensure concentration and purity of flavour.

This wine is also a statement of values. Produced under the Integrated Production certification, it follows sustainable viticulture practices that protect biodiversity and preserve the region’s heritage. The careful winemaking process, from gentle pressing to patient lees aging, seeks to highlight the character of each variety while creating harmony in the blend.

With an annual production of 30,000 bottles, Més Que Paraules Blanc is a versatile companion at the table. It pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, fish or vegetable rice dishes, soft cheeses, light salads and Mediterranean vegetarian cuisine. Its name, “More Than Words”, honours the authenticity of the land and the desire to express it honestly in every bottle. It is a wine with soul, offering a taste of Pla de Bages in its most vibrant form.

PRODUCTION METHOD
This wine is crafted from 60% Picapoll, 35% Mandó vinified as blanc de noirs, and 5% Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes come from vineyards planted in the late 1990s, rooted in clay-limestone soils with surface pebbles at about 400 meters altitude. Harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes are gently pressed in a pneumatic press after a short cold pre-fermentation maceration. Static decantation follows, allowing coarse solids to settle before alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks at 18 °C for around 14 days. Each step is designed to preserve varietal aromas and natural freshness, with delicate handling to maintain purity of fruit.
AGING
Aged for up to three months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks, with gentle stirring to enhance volume and texture while retaining freshness and acidity
TASTING NOTE
Pale straw yellow with light greenish hues, bright and clean, with a fine, glyceric tear. The nose opens with tropical aromas of ripe pineapple and passion fruit, followed by fresh citrus hints of lime and grapefruit. Delicate balsamic and aniseed nuances from the Sauvignon Blanc complete the aromatic profile. On the palate, it is smooth and inviting, with juicy fruit, subtle bitterness, and a marked citrus-driven acidity. The finish is long, persistent, and slightly herbal.
